About the panelist
Florence Jacqueline Sylvie Devouard is a consultant in Internet Communication Strategy. She's one of the founders of Wikimedia France, and was the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation between October 2006 and July 2008. Devouard was made a knight in the French National Order of Merit, proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as "chair of an international foundation".

Whilst collaborative decision making seems to be working quite well at the article-level on the wikimedia projects, it does not appear as successful at the global level.

Large projects such as the english wikipedia frequently complain that rules have multiplied or that civility and respect for all opinions seem to have been left aside. Smaller projects such as wiktionary feel their needs are not taken into account by the Wikimedia Foundation and/or chapters. And at the organization level, the chapters are having it difficult to cooperate.

Consequences of this situation is not only failing to get things done in a timely-fashion, but also foster discouragement and frustration.

This session will explore techniques to facilitate collaborative decision-making in large organizations and bring back smiling, fun, and excitement.
