Abstract

Whilst collaborative decision making seems to be working quite well at the article-level on the wikimedia projects, it does not appear as successful at the global level.

Large projects such as the english wikipedia frequently complain that rules have multiplied or that civility and respect for all opinions seem to have been left aside. Smaller projects such as wiktionary feel their needs are not taken into account by the Wikimedia Foundation and/or chapters. And at the organization level, the chapters are having it difficult to cooperate.

Consequences of this situation is not only failing to get things done in a timely-fashion, but also foster discouragement and frustration.

This session will explore techniques to facilitate collaborative decision-making in large organizations and bring back smiling, fun, and excitement.
